The President of the Republic, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received on Wednesday, July 8th 2020, the Ambassador of Hungary, H.E Helga Katalin Pritz, who was paying him a farewell visit at the end of her mission in Algeria.
"Hungary has always had friendly and strong ties with Algeria, and we agreed with President Tebboune that in the current context, this friendship will be able to be exploited and valued more once again," she said.
It considered, in this context, that the two countries maintain "excellent relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of sport and the Olympic Games, that of culture, as well as in the field of research, development and innovation ".
"This opens up the possibility for us to deepen our ties now with the help of young people who are discovering themselves, and who discover the potential and the qualities of this partnership," she added.
The Ambassador recalled, as such, that "a direct flight connects the two capitals since 2016" and that "100 scholarships are offered each year to Algerian Master and PhD students", as part of an intergovernmental program.
According to H.E Helga Katalin Pritz, the Algerian-Hungarian intergovernmental joint economic commission "is already preparing its third session, also supported by a bilateral business council, and high-level visits are on the agenda".
"I am leaving Algeria at a time of challenges. Part of these challenges, we share them: it is in these moments that we really need friends," she said, saying that " Hungary remains alongside Algeria, as it has always been, knowing that Algeria is finding its way to prosperity and influence under the wise and visionary leadership of the President of the Republic ".
She further maintained that "the Hungarian Government continues to commit, alongside the Algerian government, more to strengthening the bonds of friendship and remains attentive to its Algerian partners to find the best ways, in order to 'develop this cooperation for the benefit of future generations ".
Describing Algeria as a "magnificent host country", Mrs. Pritz affirmed that her 5 years of mandate as Ambassador of Hungary in Algiers were "decisive and "very significant in the history of Algerian-Hungarian relations ".
